Along with the Oscar, Emmy & Golden Globe, few honors are as well-known as Hollywood's Walk of Fame, the star-shaped plaques that grace the pavement on Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street. Every year a select group of celebrities are honored with their own piece of timeless history.

The Walk of Fame is a chronological history of the Hollywood-based entertainment industry and honors those who have made significant contributions in the categories of radio, television, motion pictures, recording and live performance.
 

The staff & members of The Robert Picardo Fan Club invite you to help make Bob an immortal a part of history by raising money to honor him with his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!
 

Why do you need to raise money to honor a star with a star? Does it actually cost money to put a star on the Walk of Fame? Of course it does - let's face it - Everything costs money!! But it's NOT bribery to get honored! It costs money to make the star, to hold the big ceremony, to install the star in the sidewalk & maintain it's beauty and luster for generations to come!

Here's how it works: The Walk of Fame is overseen by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The process is frequently initiated by the performer's management or reps; however, anyone can submit an application to the Chamber nominating a celebrity for the honor with the approval of the celebrity's representation. Recently, it has become increasingly common for fan groups like ours to sponsor Walk of Fame stars.

During the course of a given year, the Chamber accepts nominations and the selection committee announces their picks in June for the following year's inductees. An average of 20 nominees are selected yearly to receive a star in one of the five categories, from a typical 200 or more applications received. Once the celebrity is selected, payment of $25,000 is paid to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to schedule the ceremony & cover the costs described above.

The wheels are now in motion... The Fan Club has been granted permission by Robert Picardo's Manager to submit the application, which we have done, so the fundraising now begins. He has been nominated for the category of television, for his many accomplishments. Pat has established a savings account into which she'll place all funds received from Bob's fans. The money will continue to accrue interest until the Chamber selects Bob as one of their inductees. Any interest earned on your contributions and anything over and above the $25,000 fee, will be donated to Bob's charities of choice.

Contributions of any amount will be helpful & appreciated. 

We'll Update Our Donor Recognition Page Regularly to let you know how the fund is growing & add the name of your choice to that page if you check the box on the Donation Form Page authorizing us to include it.  Or we'll make your donation anonymous if you choose. We will also recognize the size of your contribution unless you instruct us not to.

The higher the contribution, the higher the donor will be on the page.

There is always the possibility that Bob won't be one of this year's 20 stars - A lot of it depends on you, and how quickly we can raise the money. With so few stars being inducted every year, it's a bit of a triple edged sword! - 1. Which applications get in earliest. 2. Which ones get picked first. 3. Which ones have the money for the ceremony when they are picked. (Just last month it was only $15,000 & now the cost is $25,000. So, it's always good to raise extra and give the rest to charity). The application is effective for two years. If after that time Bob has still not been selected, we will file a new application or send a letter requesting that the old one be reinstated. Rest assured, the Robert Picardo Fan Club will forge ahead until Bob has his star. We hope you're as excited as we are.
